The Big Drama Day

Time:
9:30am - 2:00pm
Date:
Wednesday 25 May
Location:
Spires Academy

Students: We have space for five schools can send five students from years 9 and/or 10 (note we might be able to increase this number depending on the number of schools signed up).

Event objective:

This collaborative workshop will see students from up to five schools come together to work on a Bunruku puppetry workshop. Learning to control the puppets in groups of three, students will develop drama skills in puppetry, improvisation, and performance.

By working with new people, the event aims to breakdown boundaries and improve social cohesion, whilst improving communication and team-working and developing the fine physical motor skills needed to work with these puppets. We hope this unique and enriching workshop will positively impact wellbeing and resilience and provide a memorable experience for all involved.

The workshop will be run by Andy Godfrey from Beware the Bull, a theatre company that specialising in the use of masks, puppets and film making.

Practicalities: Students to attend in their own comfortable clothes and to bring a water-bottle and a packed lunch.

Evaluation: The event will be evaluated by all students attending.
