Young Carers’ Day 7th July 2023
When: Friday 7 July 2023
Location: The King’s School Rec Centre, 1 St Stephen’s Road, Canterbury, CT2 7HU
Students: 30 spaces for high-priority young carers in KS3 or KS4 (first come basis- please sign up by 31st March at the latest).

Event objective: To positively impact on the lives of young carers from our partner schools by giving them a chance to learn new skills, try new leisure activities, have fun, build confidence, and help them to understand the benefit of taking the time to do something for themselves/have hobbies
Programme of activities on the day:
- 10am: arrival, welcome outline of the day, split in to two groups (depending on numbers) and safety briefing
- 15am – 11.30am: first aid sessions x 2 (swap over halfway)
- 30am – 12.30pm: pool session x 2 (water safety and games – swap over halfway)
- 30pm – 13.15pm: lunch break
- 15pm – 14.30pm: potentially a choice of spinning, circuits, tennis & football
- 30pm: end of day brief, evaluation, certificates, and departure
Evaluation:
At the end of the event students will complete evaluation to assess the impact of the day and so that we can plan for future similar events.
