Introduction to Debating
This Introduction to Debating event is open to all students from Year 9 – Year 12 and will take place in the School Room at The King’s School.
There is no parking on site but the Longport or Queningate carparks are very near by.
This event aims to outline what is involved in running a competitive pupil-led school debating society, including:
A general introduction to the British Parliamentary format (common at schools level)
A demonstration debate and judging feedback
Practicalities of attending external competitions
Brainstorming session – how to get it off the ground. (staff)
Mini debates – (pupils)
Detailed timings for the running order are to be confirmed, however groups should aim to arrive by 2pm and we will aim to be finished by about 5.30pm. Light refreshments will be available through the afternoon.
One or two members of staff to attend with one or two groups of four students from each attending school.
