The Oxford Covid Vaccine Trial and Routes into Scientific Research – with Dr Sean Elias, The Jenner Institute, University of Oxford

Dr Sean Elias is involved in the ongoing COVID-19 vaccine trial at the University of Oxford and is one of a team of 300 researchers, doctors and nurses who have been working alongside thousands of volunteers towards the common goal of a successful vaccine.

Regardless of background and interests there are many different routes into science beyond the typical route of Undergraduate-PhD-scientists. Dr Elias discusses alternative routes such as apprenticeships and nursing, as well as the issue of diversity. Coming from a minority backgrounds isn’t a barrier to working in this field, nor is disability. This session is for students with a love of science and who might be interested in a career in research. Teachers are welcome to stream this event live to their class via a big screen.
