CCCU host EKST Business Studies students in Dragon Den style event

Year 10 Business Studies students from EKST schools came to Canterbury Christ Church University on 19 June for a Dragons Den style event. Upon arriving the teams were given a brief with the theme of “Rejuvenating the High Street”. Facilitated by student ambassadors from the Business School at CCCU they spent 1.5 hours planning their business idea and then went on to present this to the team of Dragons; Iain Hawthorn, Relationship Director, Corporate Banking at HSBC Bank Plc, Martin Riley, Managing Director, Medway Community Healthcare, Charlotte Walshe, Senior Development Manager, Canterbury Cathedral Trust and Rosemary Gould, Partner Gould Training. St Lawrence College’s team were victorious with the Zingy Juice store plan and were presented with CCCU hoodies. The running up teams were from St Anselm’s RC School and St Edmunds School Canterbury.

Students attending got a huge amount from the event and a few quotes from the event demonstrate this:

“I’ve come out feeling more confident”

“I feel more able to work with others now”

“I feel more confident about presenting my ideas now.”

Looking forward to next year already! Well done to all who took part and thanks to CCCU’s Business School.
