About
Generation FOMO by Isabelle Defaut.
“This is a verbatim play created from interviews with young people, aged between 10 and 27, about their use of smartphones and social media and how it affects their mental health. These interviews were conducted by Isabelle Defaut, Artistic Director of Portrait Theatre, Graduate Theatre Company at the University of Kent, and all interviewees remain anonymous. The play explores authentic experiences of young people today, including the opportunities and dangers of the online world. This includes discussions around online influencers, the use of SnapMaps and sending or receiving unsolicited images. Following the performance there will be a Q and A with the playwright, director, members of the cast, Dr Lindsay Cameron and Mr Bennett. We invite you to come along with your children (age 12 and above), if you feel it is appropriate. We hope that the performance and discussion will act as a springboard for future communication as a family. There is no charge for this production, but we ask that you book using this link so that seats can be allocated.”
